Oyayi: a mother's undying love

Most of the time, a mother's love knows no bounds as it transcends beyond life's biggest obstacles and heartbreaks. That fact is shown in Sobresaliente Productions' first ever short film entitled "Oyayi", which means "Lullaby" in Filipino. The film explores the lives of Antonio, who is played by Mark Jacob Mendoza, and his mother Raquel, who is played by Melanie Pelgone.

Synopsis

The story is about Antonio, a 10-year old special child who copes with the death of his loving mother by unconsciously hallucinating with happy memories of her.

As he tries to find any tangible meaning from her untimely death, the audience is also kept from facing that horrible reality until the end of the film itself. Music is also a vital part of the film, as mother and child have their own lullaby to sing whenever life puts them in a tight spot.

Director's Note

The film, written by Julia Neypes and directed by Nien Medina, had been shot entirely in different parts of Marilao, and under a day only. Despite the film's low budget and time constraints, the production team has managed to deliver a tear-jerking experience which will surely make any audience eyes' water
